Why did Ben White leave the World Cup?

BEN WHITE left the English World Cup camp prematurely – and he didn’t play a single second at the tournament.
The FA announced that White missed training during the tournament due to illness.

But now the Arsenal star has been allowed to fly home and is not expected to return to Qatar to rejoin his Three Lions team-mates.

Why did Ben White leave England’s World Cup squad?
White, 25, left the England camp ahead of the round of 16 clash with Senegal for “personal reasons”.
An FA statement confirmed: “Ben White has left England’s training base at Al Wakrah and has returned home for personal reasons.


“The Arsenal defender is not expected to return to the squad for the remainder of the tournament.
“We ask that the player’s privacy is respected at this time.”
Ben White’s club side Arsenal also tweeted: “We’re all with you Ben.”
What happened in England’s round of 16 against Senegal?
- England’s World Cup Round of 16 clash with Senegal took place on Sunday 4 December.
- The Three Lions prevailed with a 3-0 win over the African team.
- Goals from Jordan Henderson, Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka propelled Gareth Southgate’s side to the quarter-finals where they meet France.
