More and more teams that will attend the Qatar World Cup are being known, but Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal is not yet one of them.
The Euro 2016 champions were beaten by a last-minute Aleksandar Mitrovic header as they knocked Serbia 2-1 at home.
And that means they will now have to make it through both the play-off semi-finals and the final to make it to Qatar.
There will also be an English interest in the playoffs with both Scotland and Wales in attendance.
When is the World Cup qualifying play-off?
The World Cup qualifying play-offs will take place during the next international break, to be held from March 24 to March 29, 2022.
Twelve teams will advance to the playoffs – the ten group runners-up from the World Cup qualifiers plus the best-placed Nations League winners yet to qualify.
However, just BA will advance to the World Cup.
The play-off draw will be held on November 26 and will see the top six teams in the World Cup qualifiers advance to the semi-finals.
That draw will also decide who will play whom in the three finals.

The play-off participants from the three groups have yet to be decided.
In Group C, Italy leads Switzerland on goal difference, but Switzerland will top the table if they can beat Bulgaria at home by two goals or more, more than any of Italy’s wins over Northern Ireland. Second place will enter the play-off.
In EASY groupUkraine needs to win in Bosnia and hope Finland doesn’t beat France at home if it goes to the play-offs. France has qualified for the World Cup.
In WOOD Group, the Netherlands, Turkey and Norway could all finish in first, second or third place.
Are there any other World Cup qualifying playoffs?
Correct. The play-offs between the federations will take place in the usual two-legged format.
This will see the winning team in the Oceania qualifiers, fourth place in the North American qualifiers, fifth place in the South American qualifiers and the best third place of the two qualifying groups. Asian category is drawn into two innings.
The two winning teams in their relationship will qualify for the World Cup.
In the Africa regional qualifiers, the 10 group winners will advance to the two-leg continental play-offs.
The five winners of those African relations will then proceed to Qatar.
