Who Was Jennifer Syme?
Born on December 7, 1972 in California, Jennifer was a production assistant in Hollywood.
She also had an acting career with a few supporting roles in films.
Jennifer was a personal assistant to Dave Navarro of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
From 1998 to 2000, she dated Hollywood heartthrob Keanu Reeves.
How did Jennifer Syme die?
On April 1, 2001, Jennifer attended a party at Marilyn Manson’s home.
After being driven home by another partygoer just before dawn, she left home, ostensibly to return to the party.
On the morning of April 2nd, Jennifer drove her Jeep into a line of parked cars on Cahuenga Boulevard in LA.
She was partially ejected from the vehicle and died instantly – she was 28 years old.
An investigation into the collision determined that Jennifer was not wearing a seat belt at the time and was under the influence of alcohol.
Keanu is said to have “found it very, very difficult to come to terms with her death.”
It’s widely believed that he used his experiences with grief to portray John Wick, who lost his wife in the hit 2014 film.
He said: “I thought that was one of the fundamentals of the role. i love his sadness
“I get that, and I don’t think you’ll ever get over it.
“Grief and loss never go away.”

They met at a promotional party for his alternative rock band Dogstar, where they “fell in love instantly.”
Though they never tied the knot, the couple lived together.

Just over a year into their relationship, Jennifer became pregnant with their first child.
However, her joy turned to sadness when on Christmas Eve 1999 her daughter Ava Archer Syme-Reeves was stillborn, eight months into Jennifer’s pregnancy.

Jennifer is buried next to her daughter in Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles.
