Who Was Elisa Mcnabney?
Laren Renee Sims was known by many aliases – Elisa McNabney was one of them.
The Brooksville, Florida woman with a dark past is known for killing her husband. California Attorney Larry McNabney in 2001.
McNabney and Sims, then called “Elisa,” met in 1995 and married in 1996. McNabney was 47 and Sims was almost 30.
McNabney was killed by a fatal dose of horse tranquilizers and buried in a vineyard at the age of 52 by Sims and her friend Sarah Dutra, who happened to be her husband’s legal secretary.


After his disappearance, Sims “claimed that he was vacationing there Puerto Ricoor celebrate Las Vegasor at a rehab center in Florida or Washington – even that he had joined a sect”, so ABC.
However, Sims was not immediately caught after the murder and the disappearance of McNabney’s money as “Elisa” did not actually exist and she was on the run.
Sims have apparently used at least 38 aliases over the years, including Melissa Godwin and Tammy Keelin Oxygen.
When police finally located her in Destin, Florida, in 2002, Sims was 36 years old.

Sims died by suicide while in police custody on March 20, 2002.
She had already liquidated McNabney’s assets and fled with her daughter after killing her husband.
Ultimately, it was her daughter, Haylei Jordan, who welcomed Sims from a previous marriage, who called the police after becoming concerned about her mother’s behavior.
What Did Her Daughter Haylei Jordan Say on ABC’s 20/20?
After being on the run with her mother, spending only a year to six months in one place at a time, Jordan finally spoke about her mother and the incident that changed her life forever.
“I’ve spent a significant portion of my life being known as Elisa McNabney’s daughter,” Jordan said 20/20.
“I used to refuse to speak because I didn’t want to deal with it anymore. I can look back on that. It didn’t happen to me. I lived through it.”
After her mother’s death, Jordan moved back to her childhood neighborhood in Brooksville, Florida.


“I came home to the city where I was born and raised, but I hadn’t seen my family in almost a decade. I didn’t know what to do because the only thing I’d ever done was make sure my mom was okay.”
“When I think about my mom back then, she was all about fun until there was none,” Jordan said.
“Until it was waking up in the middle of the night and saying, ‘Hey, we have to go.’ Because the rent wasn’t paid or it was evicted.”
