David McCallum was born on September 19, 1933 in Glasgow, Scotland.

He was an actor and musician who was best known for the US television series NCIS.

The British star died at New York Presbyterian hospital on the morning of September 25, 2023.

He died of natural causes surrounded by his family.

It was previously announced that there would be a 20th anniversary NCIS marathon, which will now include an “In Memoriam” card in memory of David.

NCIS executive producers Steven D. Binder and David North released a statement about their longtime star.

They said: “For over twenty years, David McCallum endeared himself to audiences around the world by playing the wise, quirky and sometimes enigmatic Dr. Donald ‘Ducky’ Mallard played.”

“But as much as his fans may have loved him, those who worked alongside David loved him even more.”

They continued: “He was a scholar and a gentleman, always gracious, a consummate professional and never one to miss a joke.”

“From day one it was an honor to work with him and he never let us down. He was, quite simply, a legend. He was also part of the family and will be missed very much.”

NCIS studio CBS Studios also issued a joint statement saying, “We are deeply saddened by the passing of David McCallum and honored that CBS was his home for so many years.”

“David was a gifted actor and writer and was loved by many around the world.

“He lived an incredible life and his legacy will live on forever through his family and the countless hours he spent.” Movie and television that will never go away.

Outside of NCIS, David is best known for his starring role in the 1960s spy series The Man From UNCLE.

His other notable television roles include Carter in Colditz (1972–1974) and Steel in Sapphire & Steel (1979–1982).
