Krystal Cascetta was an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Mount Sinai.
She was also the site manager at Mount Sinai Queens Infusion Center, which treats patients with cancer and blood disorders.

On Saturday August 5, 2023 it was reported that Dr. Cascetta and her baby were found dead at their home in Somers, New York.
According to Somers of the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI), her injuries are “consistent with a homicide/suicide.”
Law enforcement authorities believe Cascetta shot her child and then herself.
“A preliminary investigation revealed that around 7:00 a.m. Krystal Cascetta entered her child’s room, shot her baby and then turned the gun on herself,” the police said in a statement.
The police said so too The Journal News/lohud that Cascetta’s husband, Tim Talty, was not there at the time of the incident but her parents were reportedly at the home at the time.
Cascetta’s baby was a girl and an only child.
The infant’s age remains unknown, but according to an online register prepared by Cascetta and Talty, the baby’s date of birth was March 17, 2023, making him four and a half months old at the time of his death.

Cascetta’s husband, Tim Talty, is an entrepreneur who founded Talty Bar, a company that sells protein bars.
A Talty Bar blog post pointed out that Cascetta herself vouches for the product.
“The people closest to Krystal will tell you that she’s got the talent to be a doctor DNA. Krystal herself will tell you that she always wanted to be a doctor; that as a child you could see her wrapping her dolls in gauze,” the blog reads.
“When Krystal was in 8th grade, her mother’s best friend passed away from breast cancer. It was this life-changing event that made Krystal decide that medical oncology would be her specialty.”
Not much else is known about Talty other than his own LinkedIn pageHe was a private chef before starting his own business. He also worked as a chef for Tørst and the Gramercy Park Hotel.
