Bill Stout was reportedly found dead in his bed in 2007 with a gunshot wound to the head.
A thorough investigation revealed that someone close to Bill had murdered him with his gun.
Who was Bill Stout and what happened to him?
Bill Stout lived in Montana with his wife Anne Marie Stout and their two teenage sons.
Bill Stout broke the news in June 2007 after his wife Anne and younger son Noah discovered his body at their home returning from a shopping spree.
He reportedly died from a single gunshot wound to the head while lying in bed.
Who Killed Bill Stout?
After police conducted a thorough investigation, no gun was reportedly found at the scene, although he was shot in the head.
It was later reported that police found the murder weapon in Bill Stout’s motorcycle saddlebag with a rubber glove that contained his wife’s DNA.
The murder weapon was said to be a gun that Bill owned and which he reported missing to the Ravalli County Sheriff ten days before his death.
In addition to Anne’s DNA found on the murder weapon, investigators reportedly found a note on how to use a gun. Also, her internet search history showed that she was looking up how to kill someone.
Investigators reported that her motive for killing her husband may have been her anger upon learning of her husband’s extramarital affair.
Another possible motive cited by investigators may have been a desire to collect $500,000 worth of Bill’s insurance money.
Based on overwhelming evidence, Anne Marie Stout was found guilty of first degree murder in a trial that ended in September 2018.
She was sentenced to life imprisonment.
