It is alleged that he was involved in organized crime alongside his political career.
Atique Ahmed’s son Asad was killed on April 13, 2023 after an encounter with police.
Asad was also a suspect in the Umesh Pal murder case, much like his father.
Pal was a key witness in the assassination of politician Raju Pal in 2005.
He was murdered in February 2023 and shot dead outside his home, accompanied by his two bodyguards.
Ahmed was a prominent politician who was a member of the Indian Parliament from 2004 to 2009 and served five times in the Uttah Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
Despite being imprisoned, Ahmed still ran for elections.

He was killed on April 15, 2023 while attending a court-ordered medical examination.
His brother Achraf had stopped to speak to the media when the incident took place.
Ahmed was in custody for 14 days at the time of his murder.
