AFC Portchester tweeted in honor after the news broke: “Everyone at AFC Portchester is shocked and saddened to hear the news of the passing of Mason Peddle – the captain of our U23 side.

“Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family and friends at this difficult time. The club will do everything to support his family.”

Mason’s manager Mark Dugan also paid tribute to his captain, saying:

“Our captain, our team-mate and our friend – you will be missed so much by everyone at the club and no more than by all of us at the Under-23s.

“Our captain yes, but also a huge character at the club, on the island and in the surrounding football community.

“As a teammate to many, his impact was visible to all and will no doubt be carried further by the many he has helped in their football journey.

“A true friend to all who met him and a great loss to all. RIP Mason – Fly High Brother.”
