Who killed Stewart Green in Stay Close?

Stewart Green was one of the first people to go missing in the mystery of Nearby. We don’t know how he connects with the story in the first place, but as we dive into it, it becomes clear that Stewart Green and his disappearance are crucial to the story. .

In Stay Close, Stewart Green went missing 17 years before the new season started. He was a regular at Vipers, the club where Cassie (now Megan) worked. He was horrible and obsessed with Cassie the whole time.

So, what happened to Stewart Green?

Did Cassie/Megan Kill Stewart Green?

While it looks like Cassie/Megan killed Stewart Green, in reality, she didn’t kill him.

After a piece of paper was left by Ray, or Cassie thought, to meet in the woods, Cassie found Stewart Green in the forest behind the bloody Vipers. Instead of checking to see if he’s dead, she walks away, changes her name, and begins a new life out of fear that she’ll be blamed for Stewart’s death.

Did Ray kill Stewart Green?

Looks like Ray was Stewart’s killer. Ray was engaged to Cassie at the time, and Stewart frequently annoys Cassie. Ray could have easily killed Stewart because of his obsession with Cassie, but he didn’t.

However, he had a hand in the disposal of Stewart Green’s body.

Ray followed Cassie into the woods that night. He also finds Stewart Green’s body covered in blood, but he thinks it was Cassie who killed him. To cover it up, Ray escapes Stewart’s body by chopping him off and drowning him in a river.

Lorraine kills Stewart Green

Lorraine! It’s Lorraine! She was there the whole time, and we didn’t put it together.

In the final moments of the finale, it is revealed that Lorraine killed Stewart Green to help Cassie, but she didn’t so Cassie would run away. She just wants Cassie to see that Stewart is dead, which will hopefully allow her to move on with her life. That’s why she planted the note tree that led Cassie into the woods that night.

Lorraine has killed a lot of bad boys over the years at Carnival and dumped their bodies in an underground bunker in the woods.

So that’s how Stewart Green died.
