Who is xQc?

Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyelis a French-Canadian former pro on the popular video game Overwatch.

He was born on November 12, 1995 in Laval, Quebec, Canada.

The player represented Canada three times internationally at the Overwatch World Cup and the 27-year-old was crowned MVP of the 2017 World Cup for helping Canada reach the finals.

Despite a successful career in competition over watchhis time was shortened due to suspensions for using homophobic language and derogatory language towards OWL casters.

After joining Twitch, he became known for his controversial streaming style and has been fined and banned multiple times for inappropriate content.

Still, according to the data, he became the most-watched Twitch streamer in 2022 Streams Charts.

His sessions typically lasted between eight and 15 hours, during which he responded to topical issues, memes, and gaming content.

Specializing in GTA 5 and Minecraft, he had integrated gambling content prior to his retirement announcement.

It has been reported that xQc rakes in millions of dollars every year with its Twitch platform, with a leak of earnings data from 2021 showing it raking in a total of $750,000 before taxes in a single month.

But despite the high earnings, he kept his setup very simple, with just a desk, a chair, and the necessary gaming equipment.

Why is xQc leaving Twitch?

The popular streamer announced to his followers that he will be moving to the upcoming platform Kick.

This new streaming service will reportedly jeopardize Twitch’s success as it will take a smaller percentage of subscription revenue.

While Kick earns five percent, Twitch earns 50 percent.

xQc has signed a $70 million, two-year deal with the new service, with incentives that could push the value to $100 million.

His decision to join the Kick community will likely prompt other gaming superstars to do the same.

However, he hasn’t signed an exclusive deal, which means he can still create content for his other social media accounts, including Twitch – though he won’t be logged in as regularly, according to Kick CEO Ed Craven.

What did xQc say about joining Kick?

xQc has told his fans that he is “extremely excited” about his latest career choice.

He said, “Kick allows me to try things I couldn’t do before.”

“I am very excited to take this opportunity and turn it into new creative and fresh ideas for years to come.”

The 27-year-old’s agent, Ryan Morrison, said: “That’s more than most professional athletes and megastars.”

“This is one of the highest deals in entertainment anywhere.”
