UNIVERSITY Challenge fans will remember Bobby Seagull when he showed off his impressive IQ on the hit BBC show 2017.
While Bobby and his team failed to make it to the finals, the quiz show star has continued to find fame on TV and radio, and is now in Really dirty dancing on E4.
Who is Bobby Seagull?
Bobby Seagull is a math teacher, PHD student, College Competition contestant, and radio and television host.
38-year-old man from Newham, England.
Seagull is a part-time math teacher at a London high school.
He released a book, The Life-Changing Magic of Numbers in October 2018.
He tweeted at the time: “Mathematics has always been a part of my life and I try to find it everywhere from the kitchen, to the gym and even to finding my love. I.”
Bobby is also a West Ham United fan.
When did Bobby Seagull join the College Challenge?
Bobby was the team captain for the College Challenge contestants from Emmanuel College, Cambridge.
The team reached the semi-finals of the competition in April 2017 – but failed to beat the team from Wolfson College, Cambridge, captained by the enigmatic Canadian Eric Monkman.
Although the boys may have fought each other in the competition, they are best friends in real life – often sharing exchanges and pictures on social media.
They hosted their own series on Radio 4.

After the success and cult following of Bobby and Eric, the pair landed a BBC show in 2018.
Monkman And Seagull’s Genius Guide To Britain first aired in 2018 and again in 2020.
The duo traveled across the country to uncover the secrets of British ingenuity, uncovering the greatest innovations of the Industrial Revolution and the Victorian era.

In 2022, he joined The Real Dirty Dancing on E4.
Is Bobby married and has children?
On the surface, Bobby is currently single.
He has never been married and has no children.
But the math genius was looking for love and even wrote a chapter in his book about how math can help with dating.
In 2019, he tweeted that he was kicked out of the Hinge dating app.
He said: “I don’t know whether to laugh, cry or just shrug. On dating apps, I recently had a few people text me saying I’m a catfish. Now I’m booted @ hinge.
“I’m going to be an old bachelor with a bunch of Casio calculators, protractors and math problems.”
After appearing on University Challenge, he said he was “inundated” by romantic proposals but turned them down because he admitted he would make a “terrible boyfriend”.
Speaking of the messages, he said: “After the University Challenge, a lot of people tried to message me via Facebook and Twitter and it was very flattering… they said I was really positive and they loved my personality. I.
