Who is Ash Dykes?

Ashley Philip Dykes is a Welsh adventurer and extreme athlete.

He was born on November 1, 1990 and set two world records at the age of 25.

His passion for adventure led him to become the first person to complete an unsupported hike across Mongolia in 2014.

On his 2,400 km journey he crossed the Altai Mountains and the Gobi Desert.

The journey took 78 days and he became known to locals as the “lone snow leopard.”

In 2016, he became the first documented person to cross Madagascar.

The hike was 2,600 km long and covered the eight highest peaks.

During the journey, Ash contracted the deadliest strain of malaria and was near death.

As a result of this experience, he now works as a special ambassador for Malaria No More UK.

Ash’s adventures have seen him experience some of the most extreme environments on Earth.

In 2015, Ash received the National Adventurer of the Year award.

In 2021, he became the first person to walk the Yangtze River in China – the longest river in Eurasia – setting his third world record.

It took 352 days to complete and meant Ash covered over 4,000 kilometers of treacherous terrain and sent ten of his 16 teammates home.

It also meant that he earned celebrity status in China.
