WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon announced on May 20, 2022 that she was stepping down from her position to focus on her family.
However, on June 17, it was announced that WWE had appointed Vince McMahon’s daughter as interim CEO and interim Chairman to serve as part of an investigation into the Chairman/CEO’s alleged misconduct.
Who is Stephanie McMahon?
Stephanie McMahon is an executive and professional wrestling personality.
Born on September 24, 1976 in Hartford, Connecticut, she is a fourth-generation wrestling promoter who succeeded her father, grandfather, and great-grandfather in the family business.
The 45-year-old is one of two children alongside older brother Shane McMahon, 52, who also works at WWE as a producer and minority owner.
Before becoming a fixture on WWE television from the infamous Attitude era, McMahon worked a series of odd jobs at the global wrestling company, e.g. B. as a t-shirt model and answering machine.
After graduating from Greenwich High School in 1994 and earning a communications degree from Boston University in 1998, McMahon became an integral part of her family’s business.
For the past two decades she has played a villainous on-screen authority figure and wrestled sporadically, including a Wrestlemania match where she tagged with husband Triple H in 2018 against Ronda Rousey and WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle.
Who is Stephanie McMahon’s husband and when did they get married?
McMahon began appearing on WWE’s flagship Raw in 1999 as “Daddy’s Little Girl” and quickly became a star himself.
After turning against her father Vince McMahon in a storyline, Stephanie teamed up with Triple H, whom she married on screen and in real life, to form The McMahon Helmsley Faction.
McMahon and Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque got engaged on Valentine’s Day 2003 and married in October of that year.
In an interview on The Howard Stern Show in 2002, McMahon said, “[Paul]was very flirtatious [and] he would drop hints.
“It was a very delicate situation, he approached me and I know that in our business I’m forbidden to date any of the wrestlers.”
But it was her father who gave them permission to date but forced them to be apart.
“[My dad] gave us the OK [to date] and then took it away because if we were really going to be together, it had to be a big deal and it had to be the right thing,” McMahon said.
“So he let us get together and then he made us be apart — and we got back together, and if it was meant to be, then it was.”
As of 2022, McMahon is reported to be worth $150 million, up from $76 million in 2020, according to Celebrity Net Worth.
However, the website clarifies that this is the combined net worth of McMahon and her husband.
The couple have three daughters, Aurora Rose, 15, Murphy Claire, 13, and Vaughn Evelyn, 11.
Why did Stephanie McMahon resign from her WWE position?
McMahon announced that she would be stepping down from her role as WWE Chief Brand Officer so she could better focus on her family.
She said the change wasn’t permanent, and in a Twitter post, she wrote: “Starting tomorrow, I’ll be taking a leave of absence from most of my duties at WWE.
“WWE is a lifelong legacy for me and I look forward to returning to the company I love after taking this time to focus on my family.”
Their decision comes shortly after Levesque said he will leave wrestling for good in March 2022.
Speaking on ESPN’s Stephen A.’s World, Levesque said he had good reasons for retiring from the ring.
“Firstly, I have a defibrillator in my chest,” he said, adding, “Probably not a good idea getting me zapped on live TV.”
He said he fell ill in March and doctors told him to pack a bag and go to the hospital immediately, but by the time he arrived he was already suffering from heart failure.
“There are moments in there where they turn you over for stuff and you’re like, ‘This is it. Does that wake you up?’ It’s hard to swallow,” Levesque said.
“You think about life differently. It doesn’t make you less motivated for the things you do, but it certainly makes you appreciate the things you have more.
“Your friends and family.”
Nearly a month after her decision to focus on family, WWE announced that the “Billion Dollar Princess” had been appointed interim manager amid an investigation into alleged misconduct by her father and John Laurinaitis, head of talent relations. CEO and interim chair should act to The Hollywood Reporter.
The company said, “McMahon will maintain his role and responsibility regarding WWE’s creative content during this time and remains committed to collaborating on the ongoing review.”
