Who is Sharla McBride?

Sharla McBride is a television reporter, born December 29, 1984 in Austin, Texas.

In 2007, McBride received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia.

After graduating, she worked as a sports reporter for KTXS-TV, covering high school and college sports.

In 2012, she landed a nightly sports anchor appearance for Sportsnite on NBC Sports Philadelphia.

She later became the nightly news anchor for WNEP-TV 16 in Pennsylvania for about five years.

In March 2020, McBride began working with WUSA-TV as their new sports and news anchor.

In addition to her long career as a sports presenter, McBride has also appeared as a presenter on television series such as Succession, Mr Robot and Designated Survivor.

What did Don Geronimo say about Sharla McBride?

On July 28, 2023, Sharla McBride reported on the Washington Commanders training camp in Virginia.

In addition, Don Geronimo, iHeartMedia’s sports radio host, was also there to report on the game.

Spotting McBride, Geronimo commented during the live broadcast: “Hey look Barbie’s here. Hello Barbie girls. I’m guessing she’s a cheerleader.”

This comment prompted the commanders to remove iHeartMedia from the training camp facilities.

Additionally, Geronimo’s co-host began commenting calling McBride “tight” but was interrupted by Geronimo.

After the incident, it was announced on July 29 that the radio station had split from Don Geronimo.

“Following an internal review, Don Geronimo is no longer an employee of WBIG,” Aaron Hyland, president of iHeartMedia’s DC region, said in a statement The Washington Post.

“We take matters of this nature very seriously and this behavior is not consistent with our core values.”

On July 30, Geronimo set out Twitter to say: “At this time I will not comment on the events of the last few days.

“I am consulting with my advisors about my options going forward, including an accurate account of the situation. Thank you: D.”

How did Sharla McBride react to Don Geronimo’s comments?

After the incident took place, Sharla McBride broke her silence on Geronimo’s demeaning remarks.

McBride said she was “hurt” by the comments ESPN.

“When I heard the comments about me on the radio show, I felt incredibly offended and embarrassed,” she said.
