RAPHY Pina made her name in the entertainment industry managing Daddy Yankee and Natti Natasha.
Now the star must take a break while serving his 41-month sentence.
Who is Raphy Pina?
Raphy Pina, 43, is a well-known record producer from Puerto Rico.
He first rose to fame in the 1990s after founding Pina Records, which handles names like Daddy Yankee, RKM & Ken-Y, Natti Natasha and Plan B.
He also ran several gas stations and car dealerships in Puerto Rico, which added to his estimated $10 million net worth, according to The Success Bug.
Why was Raphy Pina arrested?
Pina’s legal troubles date back to 2016, when he was convicted of federal fraud and money laundering.
Then, four years later, he was charged with possessing two handguns and hundreds of rounds of ammunition, which Billboard said he was banned from doing.
“On or about April 1, 2020, Pina-Nieves, who is considered a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing or carrying firearms due to restrictions imposed by a prior conviction, knowingly possessed a Glock Model 19 9mm caliber pistol that was modified on automatic, a Smith & Wesson Model SD40, .40 caliber, and a total of 526 rounds of live ammunition for handguns, rifles and shotguns,” according to legal documents obtained by the media outlet.

As a result of the allegations, he was arrested and charged with possession of an automatic weapon and possession of a firearm by a person who had been convicted of a felony.
Pina was then found guilty in December 2021 and sentenced in May 2022 to 41 months in prison and a $150,000 fine.
“We respect the jury’s decision, but we disagree,” Daddy Yankee said in December 2021 after the sentencing as he exited the courthouse.
“At the moment Pina is going through a very difficult process, but he is calm and seems happy that he can at least spend New Year’s Eve with his family and that is the most important thing. We are allowed to spend the holidays with him and we are happy about that.”
At this time, Pina has not appealed the conviction and is expected to voluntarily surrender to the United States Marshals before 3 p.m. EST on May 24, 2022.
After his release, he will be released under custody for three years, Billboard notes.
Is Raphy Pina married?
Pina was previously married to Carolina Aristizabal from 2011 to 2019.
After his divorce, he began a relationship with Natti Natasha, and the two became engaged shortly thereafter.
In May 2021, Pina and Natasha welcomed a daughter, Vida Isabelle.
Pina is also the father of Rafael Jr., Mia and Antonio who are from previous relationships.
