VLADIMIR Putin’s Chechen warlord Ramzan Kadyrov is a staunch supporter of war in Ukraine.
Hardman Kadyrov, the president of the Chechen Republic – a disputed territory in southern Russia – is facing a spate of health problems.
The former separatist rebel fought against the Russians in the First Chechen War, but switched sides in the second conflict in 1999 and joined Moscow.
Human rights groups say he personally oversees the torture of political opponents in secret dungeons and leads death squads known as “Kadyrovites.”
Who is Ramzan Kadyrov?
Ramzan Kadyrov was born in Chechnya in 1976 and, like many men of his generation, led a life largely shaped by two brutal wars that rocked the republic in the 1990s and 2000s.
In the first Chechen war from 1994 to 1996, he fought alongside his father Akhmad Kadyrov for the cause of the Chechen separatists.
But in 1999, after Putin launched the second Chechen war to restore Russian control over the breakaway republic, the Kadyrovs switched sides.
Akhmad was subsequently appointed pro-Russian president of the republic.
When he was assassinated in 2004, the baton of pro-Russian leadership passed to his burly son.
The tracksuit-clad bodybuilder wasn’t an obvious politician, after being endorsed by Putin he quickly became one of the most powerful men in Russia.
But the more powerful he became, the more he divided Russian politics.
To his supporters, he is a Russian patriot who brought peace to a war-ravaged region and ensured unprecedented reconstruction and postwar reconstruction.
To his enemies, he is a renegade rebel who has made Chechnya his personal fiefdom, where Russian law does not apply, and who has used terror and murder to target not only the separatist Islamist insurgency, but also political rivals, human rights activists and domestic ones Dissenters.

The warlord even claimed he would send his three sons to fight in Ukraine and posted a bizarre video showing the three boys practicing shooting guns.
Is Ramzan Kadyrov married?
Ramzan was married to Russian fashion designer Medni Kadyrova in 1996 and the couple has around twelve children together.
In 2021, it was revealed that the warlord may have a second wife – Fatima Khazuyeva.
Fatima and Ramzan reportedly met at a beauty pageant in 2006 when she was just 14 years old.
Some have even speculated that he has a third wife – singer and dancer Aminat Akhmadova, with whom he reportedly has two more children.
How is Ramzan Kadyrov?
Ramzan’s current status remains unknown, but rumors have been circulating about the warlord’s health since early 2022.
In early 2023, he had to deny having health problems, posting on social media that he was “healthy and full of energy.”
In September 2023, a Ukrainian spokesman announced that the strongman’s “existing illnesses” had worsened and he was reportedly in a coma.
