Who is Barbara Rumpel?
Barbara Rumpel is a businesswoman from Melbourne, Florida.
Rumpel, widely known for campaigning for gun rights, has been a member of the National Rifle Association’s Women’s Leadership Council since January 2002.
Additionally, Rumpel served on the Executive Committee of the NRA Women’s Leadership Forum from 2012-2018.
According to Rumple LinkedInSince 2013, Rumpel has been President of Victoria Landing – an assisted living facility in Melbourne.
What happened to Barbara’s family?
On June 4, 2023, Barbara’s daughter, granddaughter, and nanny died in a tragic plane crash en route to Long Island, New York.
The pilot on board also died.
The four departed a Tennessee airport on Sunday afternoon, and upon reaching Long Island, the plane made a U-turn toward Washington DC.
According to NORAD, the aircraft was in autopilot mode at the time of the crash.
NORAD said, “The pilot did not respond and the Cessna subsequently crashed near the George Washington National Forest.”
The F-16 military jets attempted to make contact with the light aircraft.
As they were allowed to fly at supersonic speeds to ensure there was no national threat, a sonic boom was heard in Washington DC, Virginia and parts of Maryland.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are currently investigating the crash.
What did Barbara and John say about the crash?
After the news broke, both Barbara and John mourn the loss of their family.
Barbara commented on a Facebook post, saying, “My family is gone, my daughter and my granddaughter.”
Also, John spoke up The Washington Post saying his “entire family” was on board.
“We don’t know anything about the crash,” he continued.
“We are speaking to the FAA now. … I have to keep the line clear.”
The Rumpel’s daughter, Adina Azarian, was 49 years old, while unfortunately her granddaughter was only 2 years old.
