Jeff Bridges’ father is the “reason” for his acting success
Last Sunday (January 15, 2023), which would have been Lloyd Bridges’ 110th birthday, his son Jeff paid tribute to him at the Critics’ Choice Awards.
In his Lifetime Achievement Award acceptance speech, the True Grit actor admitted that without his father’s encouragement, he would not have had such success.
“Today, January 15th, is my father’s birthday. I wear his cufflinks. I wouldn’t be up here without my dad,” Bridges said.
“He’s the reason I’m up here. I can remember he loved showbiz so much, loved acting so much, and as a kid I was like, ‘You know Dad, I’m not sure I want to be an actor.’ […] He said, “Jeff, don’t be ridiculous. As an actor, you are encouraged to do whatever things you are interested in doing. And you’ll also be able to tell all these wonderful stories from all these different perspectives of living people. It’s a wonderful job’.”
