disconnected was created and written by Darren Star and Jeffrey Richman. You might recognize Star as the creator of the Emmy Award-nominated Netflix series Emily in Paris. Richman is also credited as the writer of the television series Fraiser, Rules of Engagement and modern family.

The show was produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, Darren Star Productions, Jeffrey Richman Productions and Jax Media with Harris, Star, Richman and Lilly Burns serving as executive producers.

The story follows Michael Lawson, a successful real estate agent whose life is turned upside down when his longtime friend suddenly moves out. After being forced to face his nightmares of losing his soul mate, Michael finds himself on the dating scene as a newly minted gay man in his forties in New York City. Neil Patrick Harris stars as Michael Lawson. Harris is best known for his roles in Doogie Howser, MD, How I met your mother, A chain of unfortunate events, Ex girlfriend and joy. Tuc Watkins plays Colin, Michael’s ex-boyfriend. You may know Watkins from his roles in the soap operas To live a life, General Hospital and all my children. He also had roles in the TV shows Desperate Housewives, Parks and Recreation and where the bears are. Then there is Tisha Campbell, who portrays the role of Suzanne, Michael’s business partner. Campbell is best known for her roles in Little Shop of Horrors, house party, Martin and My wife and children.
