What was Ed Buck accused of?
On 09/17/2019, Buck was charged with three counts of battery causing serious injury, administering methamphetamine, and running a drug store.
In April 2020, he was then charged with four more counts.
The charges included luring another man to travel with intent to engage in prostitution and two counts of distributing controlled substances, resulting in death.
His nine charges relate to the death of Gemmel Moore in July 2017 and the death of Timothy Dean in January 2019.
On July 27, 2021, Buck was found guilty of multiple felonies related to the deaths of Gemmel and Timothy West HollywoodCalifornia.
Buck had maintained his defense that the deaths were due to underlying medical conditions and not the narcotics he gave the men, but was still found guilty on all nine counts.
On April 14, 2022, the businessman was sentenced to 30 years in prison for the convictions.
During the trial, Assistant US Attorney Chelsea Norell told the jury, “The party is the drugs, the game is the sex. If they weren’t partying, he wasn’t interested.”
Before he was sentenced, Buck spoke briefly with Judge Christina A. Snyder and he apologized “for my part in the tragic deaths of Gemmel and Timothy.”


“These are men I have cared for and loved. I did not cause their deaths,” Buck said.
He asked Snyder to “see the good in my life” and not “the horrific caricature that the government portrayed me as — a meth-fueled ax murderer.”
