The 31-year-old, who was born in Rumson, New Jersey on December 2, 1991, shared that he would be releasing a new song that would reflect the split.

“I’m really excited for the song to come out, but every time I hear it, it kind of takes me back to a time that was really, really, really challenging in my life,” he told his TikTok followers.

“It just rears its ugly head every time – sorry – every time I hear it,” Puth wiped tears from his eyes as he spoke.

He added that 2019 was the “worst damn year” for him.
