Hutchinson attended Christopher Newport University in Virginia from 2015 to 2018.

She did internships with Senator Ted Cruz and House Majority Whip Steve Scalise before interning at the Trump White House in 2018.

When she received such an opportunity, her university’s student newspaper wrote an article about her accomplishments, in which she spoke about the opportunity she was given through the White House internship program.

She said: “I have set a personal goal to pursue a path of civic importance.

“The internship on Capitol Hill confirmed my desire to continue my career in government, and when I found out about the White House internship, I was keen to apply.

“I was moved to tears when I received the email that I had been selected to participate.

“As a first-generation college student, it was an honor and a tremendous growth experience to be selected to serve as an intern alongside some of the brightest and most dedicated students from around the country, many of whom attend top universities.”

Why is Cassidy Hutchinson testifying at the January 6 hearing?

Because she was on Meadows’ staff, who worked for Donald Trump, Hutchinson was questioned behind closed doors during the ongoing investigation into the US Capitol attacks.

Footage of her testimony has been shown at previous hearings and a live performance will mark a significant moment in the course of events.

Because of her working position close to Donald Trump’s ex-chief of staff, she is considered one of the most consequential witnesses.

Hutchinson communicated frequently with Meadows during her time with him, and also recorded details of his White House schedule.

She witnessed most of it behind the scenes and can therefore provide a better insight into the events that transpired.
