Who is Asher Maslin?

Asher Maslin worked as a security guard in Gloucester before his arrest.

The then 22-year-old was the ex-partner of Hollie Gazzard, 20, who worked as a hairdresser at a salon, also in Gloucester.

Maslin met Hollie at a bar in 2013 and the couple soon started dating.

However, in 2014, Hollie ended their relationship due to Maslin’s possessive and abusive behavior.

But Maslin didn’t accept that Hollie didn’t want to be with him anymore.

He stole the hairdresser’s bank cards as she walked to her car – before withdrawing £300 and enjoying a crack cocaine binge.

When did Asher Maslin kill Hollie Gazzard?

Just two days before the murder, Hollie had contacted the police about concerns about her ex-partner.

Her request to authorities came after both she and her family were bombarded with a series of threatening texts.

However, Maslin could not be located.

One message read: “I don’t want to get freaking violent as I’m going to take it too far.”

On February 18, 2014, Asher Maslin walked into the salon where Hollie worked and brutally stabbed the young barber.

In a frantic attack that lasted just two minutes, Maslin stabbed Hollie 14 times as she finished a haircut on her last client of the day.

Before the murder, Maslin was captured on CCTV selling his DVD player to raise money he would use to buy the 12-inch kitchen knife he used to attack his ex-girlfriend.

Before Maslin entered the salon around 6.30pm on February 18, she sent her sister Chloe’s partner a chilling text, saying: “I warned you all.”

Just moments later, he entered the salon and murdered the 20-year-old.

Salon boss Sian Pryszlak shared how Hollie anticipated his arrival that day and how the couple agreed to call 999 if he showed up.

She also recalled the harrowing moment Maslin executed the attack.

“I did a gentleman’s hair,” Sian said.

“I said hi and he said hi and I went to the back of the salon and held my phone up to Hollie to show her I was going to call the police and we both nodded to each other.

“I remember being quite nervous and worried about it. I heard quite a commotion and then people ran towards me and a customer said. ‘There’s a knife.’”

Hollie was taken to the hospital after the attack, however, she was tragically pronounced dead on arrival.

Where is Asher Maslin now?

Asher Maslin was found guilty of the murder of Hollie Gazzard and sentenced to life in prison in July 2014.

The killer must serve at least 24 years behind bars before being considered for parole.

He is currently in prison serving time for the horrific crime he committed.

However, this wasn’t the first time Maslin had run into trouble with the law.

After Hollie’s death, details of his violent past were revealed.

Hollie’s father Nick explained: “He’s been arrested 23 times with escalating violence, with domestic violence, GBH. He was a serial killer.

“Hollie wouldn’t have wanted to be with someone who did this to other people.”
