In 1940, Tennessee-based bottlers Barney and Ally Hartman created the original formula of Mountain Dew Soda.
After some changes to the formula by various people, Mountain Dew was released in 1961.
Three years later, the trademark and production rights were bought by the PepsiCo company.
The caffeinated citrus-flavored soda will be available in a range of flavors from 2022: Voltage (blue raspberry); Live Wire (Orange); Code Red (Cherry); Large melon (watermelon); Spark (raspberry lemonade); and the Tacobell-exclusive, Baja Blast (Tropical Lime).

The alcoholic beverages are currently continuously available Florida, Tennesseeand Iowa.


It is currently only available in select grocery stores and retailers, but is expected to roll out to other stores throughout 2022.
