Before Bargain Hunt she was the only female auctioneer at her local auction house and then moved to the BBC show – where she then became an expert.

Markus Stacey

Mark Stacey says he has always been a collector and loved collecting stamps and coins as a child.

As he got older, he began browsing markets, collecting small pieces of silver and works of art.

He says antiques have “chosen him” and that his hobby has become his way of life.

Mark joined Bargain Hunt in 2002 after seeing an ad in the antiques magazine.

He was first introduced to Bargain Hunt after failing a screening test as an expert in the fall of 2002.

A few months later, however, his company hosted the bargain-hunting Christmas special, and the series producer was so impressed that he landed a role as a pundit.

Gary Pe

Gary Pe says he was drawn to antiques from a young age living on a small island in the Philippines called Marinduque.

He says he would envision the stories behind antiques and try to unravel their mysteries, and his fascination grew with time.

Gary got involved with Bargain Hunt after receiving a call from the BBC out of the blue.

The channel was looking for new faces with different backgrounds and experiences in the industry and after a long process Gary joined the team of experts.

John Cameron has been interested in antiques since he was young and grew up with them.

His grandfather was a dealer and during his five years apprenticeship as a carpenter/joiner he supplemented his income by stripping, restoring and waxing antique pine furniture.

Later, a back problem forced John to give up physical work and return to college, where he completed a three-year course at Southampton, studying art appreciation.

He later worked in an auction house and became a state-certified appraiser for antiques and art.

Before working on Bargain Hunt, John appeared as a pundit on two other BBC antique shows – Cash In The Attic and Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is.

Jonathan Pratt

Jonathan Pratt says he decided to pursue a career in antiques after seeing Lovejoy in the ’80s.

Speaking on the appeal of Bargain Hunt, he told the BBC: “It’s a fantastic mix of story and real characters in a game show format with charismatic experts.

“What’s not to like?”

Ochuko Ojiri

Ochuko Ojiri has a wealth of experience when it comes to antiques and finding great bargain hunting finds.

When asked what his best and worst purchase was, he told the BBC: “I’ve done very well with a 1950s flamingo pink petrol can and very badly with an opera hat that can be flipped down so people behind you.” can see what is happening.

“Turns out people don’t wear top hats at the opera anymore… who would have thought!”

Nick Hall

Nick Hall started working at an auction house as a teenager and says he quickly “got the bug” for antiques and art.

After learning on the spot, he took an art class.

This then led to Nick being given the position of Senior Valuer and Director in the same salesroom.

Philip Serrell says he believes antiques found him “rather than the other way around”.

He was approached by Bargain Hunt in 1999 while they were filming in Malvern.
