Brandon Miller was born on November 22, 2002 in Antioch, Tennessee.

His father, Darrell, played football in high school and college at the University of Alabama, while his mother, Angela Youlanda, was a former track and field athlete.

“It wasn’t the easiest decision, but Brandon was our pick the entire time,” said Mitch Kupchak, the Hornets general manager, after the decision was announced.

“There’s been a lot of lively discussion over the last three or four days, which I welcome and it’s good for the basketball department to discuss pros and cons.”
