White Sox, Bo Jackson surprise the South Side family for Christmas

CHICAGO For a special South Side family this year, Christmas stockings are being tucked in by the White Sox themselves.

The team teamed up with one of the biggest stars in sports history to deliver a unique surprise to a family in South Chicago.

At a time when it’s easy to get caught up in life’s trials of the year, the White Sox sent a legend to redo a home for the holidays.

Tanika Harmon, a single mother with three children, has faced many obstacles in her life, going from shelter to shelter during times of homelessness.

This year, football and baseball legend Bo Jackson brought a one-of-a-kind surprise for this year’s Christmas.

While Harmon and her children were away for the day, Jackson, a group from the White Sox, and a nonprofit “Digs with Dignity” sent a truckload of gifts and completely transformed the house.

When Jackson took the family upstairs, the reactions ranged from joy to tears.

Harmon noticed that an apartment that had previously been furnished with a mattress on the floor and a TV was now fully furnished with a fully stocked pantry.

The kids’ room has been redone and stocked with presents, with Jackson giving advice on climbing and cleaning. For Jackson, facing difficulties as a child is something he can relate to.

“There’s a lot of Christmases where I don’t get presents because the money has to be spent to stay creative,” Jackson said.

For Harmon and her family, the biggest Christmas present is wrapped with the letter “Bo”. White Sox, Bo Jackson surprise the South Side family for Christmas
