But France were missing two of their stars against Morocco.

And for their big clash with Argentina in the final, they could be without a few more big stars.

A mix of injuries and a virus spreading through the French camp has caused their staffing crisis.

Both Dayot Upamecano and Adrien Rabiot were absent due to illness against Morocco.

“In Doha the temperature has dropped a bit, the air conditioning is on all the time,” said France coach Didier Deschamps.

“We have had a few cases of flu-like symptoms.

“We’re trying to be careful so it doesn’t spread and the players have been making a lot of effort on the pitch and obviously their immune systems are suffering.

“Dayot Upamecano felt ill immediately after the game (against England).

“What happens when you exert yourself like that, your body becomes weakened and you are more susceptible to infection with these viruses.

“We are taking all the necessary precautions, we are trying to make sure it doesn’t spread, but viruses are of course contagious and we have to take precautions against them.

“We separated him from others and also from Adrien.”

And since the game against Morocco, two centre-backs Raphael Varane and Ibrahim Konate, who started against the African side, have reportedly contracted flu and missed training on Friday.

Kingsley Coman also missed training with the flu after feeling feverish for the week.

Aurelien Tchouameni and Theo Hernandez also missed training on Friday, but are suffering from hip and knee problems.

Rabiot and Upamecano are expected to be back for the finals.

But it remains to be seen if Tchouameni, Hernandez and Varane are ready to go.

Konate will likely start from the bench.
