Where was The Gilded Age filmed?
Even though it’s set in Manhattan, it’s actually Long Island, NY used for a lot of the shoot.
Among the suites built there include the many rooms of Russell’s mansion, created to recreate the East Side of Manhattan in the 19th century.
Bob Shaw, the show’s production designer, told New York Times compared to previous HBO series he’s worked on, including The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire, “This is the biggest build I’ve ever done.”
“We kept drawing and illustrating, and they kept saying yes,” he said. “You draw a grand staircase, and you’re waiting for someone to say, ‘Well, how many times are they going to go up the stairs?’ And that never happened.”
Parts of the interior of Russell’s mansion were filmed at several mansions in Rhode Island.
This includes their ballroom, which is actually located in The Breakers.
Their bedroom was filmed in the Marble House.
