When was Adam Lambert on American Idol?

Lambert was a contestant in the eighth season of American Idol which premiered on January 13, 2009.

He placed second in the music competition, with Kris Allen being crowned the winner.

According to Variety, in an interview with the publication in January 2023, Lambert was asked if he thought homophobia was the reason he was the Season 8 runner-up and not the winner.

He reportedly said: “Probably. But it was ten years ago.”
