What You Didn’t Know About Lucas Black’s Life Before NCIS: New Orleans

According to CBS, Black is so proud of his Southern accent and heritage that “he once turned down a role because the director wanted him to give it up.” Understandably, Black didn’t specify what the role or director was. However, he spoke at length about his pride in the South. “Well, I grew up outdoors… Hunting, fishing and camping,” he once told CBS 42 in 2016 while promoting “NCIS: New Orleans,” in which he appeared from 2014 to 2019.

“I’m so lucky, especially with this role,” Black said of his portrayal of Christopher LaSalle, who was eventually killed. “I felt like my character, I had to show a Southern gentleman and Southern hospitality that we in Alabama strive to live up to,” Black added. The “F9” star has been repeatedly asked about his voice in interviews and whether people are surprised to hear it live.

“That’s me,” he said NOLA.com in 2014. “I’ve been working on this for 31 years and I feel like I’ve finally worked it out.”
