What was the cause of Vincent Jackson’s death?
On Wednesday, December 22, 2021, an autopsy revealed Jackson passed away from chronic alcohol use, according to TMZ.
His wife Lindsey reported that Jackson had suffered from memory loss and mood swings before his death, and a study of his brain showed he was suffering from stage 2 CTE.
Chronic traumatic encephalopathy, or CTE, is the term used to describe “degeneration of the brain that can result from repetitive head trauma.”
Jackson was found dead on Monday, February 15, 2021, at the Homewood Suites in Brandon, Florida.
According to hotel staff, Jackson, a South Tampa resident, checked into the hotel on January 11 and has stayed in one room since.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said on Facebook that it was investigating Jackson’s death at the time.
Sheriff Chad Chronister said in an interview on Q105 FM’s “MJ Morning Show” that Jackson battled chronic alcoholism.
He said the Jackson family suspected the former wide receiver had a CTE due to concussions during his 12 seasons in the NFL.
When did Vincent Jackson go missing?
On February 10, 2021, the sheriff spoke to Jackson’s family members who called to say he was missing.
An official report was filed on 11 February.
The next day, February 12, HCSO booked Jackson at the Homewood Suites and spoke to him.
The force said that after “assessing Jackson’s health condition, the case of the missing people has been dropped”.
The Facebook post adds that the sports star was found dead by a housekeeper around 11:30 a.m. on February 15 in his hotel room.

The 38-year-old player played for the Bucs from 2012-2016.
Before playing for Tampa, he played for the San Diego Chargers from 2005-2011.
