Unfortunately, TIGER WOODS won’t have a chance to win back this year’s Masters blue jacket.
The Golf legend suffered a serious leg injury in a horrific car crash in February 2021.
What is the current status of Tiger Woods?
Woods severely injured both of his legs on February 23 when the car he was driving went down a hillside in Los Angeles.
Woods successfully operated on his legs to repair his terrifying injuries.
Woods was discharged from the hospital on March 16 and has been recovering at home since, although his exact current condition is unknown.
However, it is expected that Woods will spend most of the year recovering from injury.
Rival and friend Rory McIlroy visited Woods at his home recently and reported that Woods was in ‘good spirits’.
“I spent a few hours with him, which was great,” McIlroy said.
“It was a pleasure meeting him. It was good to meet him with a relaxed spirit. When you hear these things and you look at the car and you see the wreckage, you think he’s going to have to be in a hospital bed for six months.
“But he actually did better than that. A few of us who live in south Florida have come to see him. I’m sure he appreciates that.
“Everybody would love to see him here again. I think myself, JT, Rickie [Fowler], DJ, Brooks [Koepka], all of you down there, we all have a responsibility to try to keep his spirits up and keep him going and try to get him back here. “
On November 29, 2021, Woods revealed that he likely won’t return to playing professional golf full-time.
“It’s an unfortunate reality,” Woods said Golf Digest in his first interview since the wreck. “But, that’s my reality. And, I understand it, and I accept it.”
While explaining his detox, he said it’s unlikely his schedule will be the same.
“I think something realistic is playing the one-day Tour – never full-time again – but pick and choose, like Mr. [Ben] Hogan did,” Woods said. You pick and choose a few events each year and you play around with that. “
“You practice around it, and you prepare yourself. I think that’s how I’m going to have to play it from now on.”
What else has been said about Tiger Woods?
Justin Thomas also visited Woods and said that the Golf icon texted him: “Now it’s kicking in – wish I was there.”
Thomas added: “I went and saw him a few times last week. I try to come over whenever I’m at home and see him.
“He’s frustrated that he’s not here to play scrims with us, and we hate that too.”
McIlroy also talked about how visiting Woods has made him more focused for this year’s Masters, something the Northern Irishman has never won on his own.
“I went to Tiger’s house a few weeks ago to see him, and in the family room he has his trophy cabinet,” explains McIlroy.
“Those are his 15 major titles. I said, ‘That’s really great. Where is it all? [non-major trophies]? ‘ He said, ‘I don’t know.’ I go, ‘What?’ He said, ‘Yeah, my mom has some and some in the office and a few anywhere….’
“I was driving home and I was thinking, I mean; That’s all he cares about. All he cares about.
“So how easy must it feel for him to win over all the others? That’s always on my mind,” he said. [how] These are four important weeks. “
