What is The Sea Beast on Netflix about?

A new animated film for children entitled The Sea Creature It’s set to hit Netflix on July 8th, so get your popcorn and beverage of your choice ready to watch what’s sure to be an exciting film with the whole family!

The Sea Creature is an upcoming Netflix Original film directed by Chris Williams in his solo directorial debut. You may know Williams from his work on other children’s animated films, such as bolt, big hero 6 and Moiana. Williams and Nell Benjamin co-wrote the screenplay The Sea Creature.

It was produced in-house at Netflix Animation, with Melissa Cobb hired as executive producer. Williams and Jed Schlanger are producing and Mark Mancina composed the music for the film.

The cast includes many talented actors such as Karl Urban, Zaris-Angel Hator, Jared Harris, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Dan Stevens and Kathy Burke. So what is The Sea Creature around? Here’s the synopsis and so much more just below!

Synopsis for The Sea Beast

The story is about a young orphan girl named Maisie who disappears as a stowaway on the ship of a legendary sea monster hunter named Jacob Holland. Together, the unlikely pair embarks on a journey into uncharted waters while confronting all oncoming threats.

The Sea Beast Parent Guide and Age Rating

The film is rated PG, meaning parental guidance is recommended. There is some content presented in the film that some parents may find inappropriate for younger children. For example, there will be violence, killing sea creatures, drinking alcohol, and light profanity used by some of the characters. So it’s up to the parents to decide whether or not to allow their younger children to watch The Sea Creature.
