Gökçe rose to fame through a series of viral internet videos and memes.

His fame came from a viral video, “Ottoman Steak,” which was released on January 7, 2017.

The video shows him cutting meat and sprinkling salt on it in an eccentric manner.

The video has been viewed more than 10 million times on Instagram, and at that moment he received the nickname “Salt Bae” because of his special way of salting meat.
