MGM+ is a cable network and streaming platform owned by MGM. It used to be called EPIX.

As reported by US Weekly, in September 2022, EPIX shared the news of the name change following Amazon’s $8.5 billion purchase of MGM.

MGM+ head Michael Wright said: “Aside from individual shows, the service has never been commercialized. Now you have this incredibly strong, loud name that means something to people.

“You could spend five years and $100 million launching a new brand and you wouldn’t have the brand equity that you get with MGM. It really is something of a gift.”

He added that MGM+ is “both a linear service and a digital service.”

As the platform’s website notes, MGM+ users can “stream moves & TV series on-demand or live” ad-free.
