BROADCASTER and media personality Wendy Williams continues to be plagued by health complications.
On Friday, June 17, 2022, the final episode of The Wendy Williams Show aired.
What happened to Wendy Williams?
Over the years, Wendy Williams has revealed details about her ongoing health issues to her fans.
She struggles with many things including Graves’ disease and an overactive thyroid, which she was diagnosed 19 years ago.
She also struggled with sobriety after splitting from ex-husband Kevin Hunter, which led to her entering rehab in 2019.
In 2021, Wendy tested positive for Covid-19 and was then hospitalized for “psychiatric treatment”.
On Nov. 8, 2021, the talk show host gave her fans an update on Instagram, announcing that she was “making progress.”
“As everyone knows, my health has been a hot topic. I’m making progress, but it’s just one of those things that takes longer than expected,” Wendy told her fans.
She continued, “I’m a woman of a certain age and I know enough to listen to my doctors and will return to my purple chair once we all agree I’m ready.
“I want to thank all of my staff and our innkeepers for standing up and stepping in while I can’t be there.”

The media outlet added, “I’d also like to thank Debmar-Mercury and our broadcasters for being so understanding and supportive as I work my way back.”
“Most of all, I want to thank my fans. I have heard your prayers and comments and I feel all the love! You are everything to me.”
Wendy explained, “I love spending my mornings with you all and I’m doing everything I can to get back to work, but right now Wendy needs to focus on Wendy. I love you because you are watching.”
While fans were hoping Wendy would return and grace the stage soon, that may not be in sight for the near future as she continues to struggle.
Has the Wendy Williams Show been cancelled?
On June 14, it was announced that her show was officially canceled and the final episode aired on Friday June 17.
“The final original episode of The Wendy Williams Show will air on Friday, June 17 with a video tribute to the legendary host,” a show spokesperson told Deadline.
“The series comes to an end after 13 successful years in syndication.”
In February, Sherri Shepherd announced that she would be the host of a new talk show called Sherri, replacing the Williams Show.
Who hosted Wendy’s show while she was away?
While the former radio DJ was unable to host The Wendy Williams Show this season, many famous faces have done their part to fill in during their absence.
Notable names like Leah Remini, Sherri Shepherd, Whitney Cummings, Jerry Springer, Michael Rapaport, and Bill Bellamy tried their hand at innkeepers.
Michael had guested in early 2022 but his time was cut short after testing positive for Covid.
