HOCKEY fans have worried for Jack Hughes, star center and alternate captain of the New Jersey Devils, after he was spotted on the ice with a missing tooth.

On May 7, 2023, the New Jersey Devil competed against them Carolina hurricanes for game 3 of the Stanley Cup Playoffs Series.
When star player Jack Hughes stepped onto the ice, fans were quick to notice that his signature “picture-perfect smile” was missing something – a front tooth.
Although not much is known about the incident, it appeared he lost it two days earlier during the Devils’ 6-1 loss to Carolina.

Devils fans were frustrated after the team’s disappointing loss to the Hurricanes, but some argue Hughes’ missing tooth may have given them the boost they needed to get back into the series.


“Not that Hughes wasn’t a fucking beast before he lost his tooth, but DAMN. Two goals, two assists and four points in the playoffs from a guy who won’t be 22 until next week. Yes. That will do,” wrote Matt Fitzgerald, a sports blogger for Sports bar stool.
“AND he’s confusing it with Sebastian Aho to show these rising devils don’t go down easily. They love to see it from the young lad,” Fitzgerald added, referring to Hughes’ Game 3 on the Ice fight with Sebastian Aho.
While fans are liking Hughes’ new energy, the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy nominee isn’t thrilled with his new look.
“I’m not the most thrilled guy that I lost my jib, but you know, every hockey player loses it … so you know I’ve played 240 games without losing it.” he said after game 3.
“Hopefully I’ll get a new one this summer,” he added.

After news of Hughes’ tooth began to spread, several fans increased Twitter to comment on the star’s new look.

While some joked about the situation, other fans were visibly upset.
