What happened to Osferth in The Last Kingdom season 5?

As the last season, we know The Last Kingdom Part 5 can bring some heartbreaking moments. What happened to Osferth, better known as Baby Monk?

The final seasons of all TV shows come to an end giving us heartbreaking moments. We know that not all characters can survive. And The Last Kingdom is one of those shows that doesn’t mind killing characters. It is not afraid to maintain reality.

That’s not to say we want the characters to die. However, we only know that death must happen, and The Last Kingdom Part 5 brought us a heartbreaking death in the form of Osferth.

Baby Monk died in The Last Kingdom season 5

Aethelhelm makes an attack on Christians that looks like a Danish attack. That led to Aethelhelm’s men going to Uhtred’s village while Uhtred wasn’t there. Men who claimed that the village was inhabited by Danes attacked the Christians, massacring many Danes living in the village.

Finan, Osferth and the others tried to protect as many people as possible. When Finan’s wife went to the pier to raise the alarm, she was attacked. Finan finds himself having to choose between helping Osferth confront the two men or saving his wife. He chooses a wife, which leads to Osferth being stabbed.

As Aethelhelm’s men disappeared, Finan rushed to the dying Osferth. Osferth was understandably terrified, but it all happened in Finan’s arms.

Finan took death hard, even blaming himself for it. If he didn’t choose a wife, Osferth would still be alive. Of course, the opposite can be said for his wife. When he shared some details with Uhtred, Uhtred was quick to make it clear that death was not in Finan’s hands. Osferth’s death was at the hands of Aethelhelm.
