What happened to Frank Ocean?

Although Frank Ocean debuted two singles in 2020, the singer hasn’t released a new studio album since 2016, when Blonde was shared with the world.

While there’s been no word on new music from the reclusive singer, Frank has been busy launching an independent luxury jewelry company called Homer, which means setting history in stone.

The company was introduced in August 2021.

Everything you need to know about Frank Ocean and his latest venture

Frank has spoken about his desire to create things that last.

“Hand on my heart this project has kept my mind engaged and my imagination spinning through it all,” Ocean wrote on Instagram in August 2021.

“All my work is now dedicated to my family. All. My hope is to create things that endure, that are hard to destroy, set in stone.”

In an interview with the Financial Times in August, Frank spoke about the journey that led him to found Homer.

He also spoke about the future opportunities for black people in the fashion industry.

“There are opportunities now for black people that weren’t always there for us,” he said.

“I grew up in poverty. I am grateful to my mother for trying to expose me as much as possible in terms of the big picture.

“I’m very fortunate to be someone who can make someone else feel like they have opportunities and I think that will enrich art and fashion.”

And new details about Frank’s collaboration with Prada were released on September 11, 2021 on talent company Huxley’s Instagram account.

“Homer reinvented three pieces from Prada, each in four unique colors,” the company said.

“Made in Italy by Prada, the collection consists of an anorak, backpack and belt bag with an internal co-branded label.”

Frank Ocean first became the face of Prada in January 2020 – almost a year after professing his allegiance to the label at the Met Gala in 2019.

Why did he bring a green robot baby to the 2021 Met Gala?

To complement his ensemble, the Thinkin Bout You singer wore a Homer necklace to the Met Gala on Sept. 13.

He also donned a black cap printed with the word Dreamcore and an image of a man fishing from the moon, similar to the DreamWorks Pictures logo.

And his date, a slime-green robotic baby with glittering lattices, was dressed in a onesie printed with a pattern from Homer’s selection of silk scarves.

It’s not clear why Frank decided to bring the green baby to the event – but it seemed like a good opportunity to showcase his new brand.

Vogue named the singer the chicest dad at the 2021 Met Gala.

Frank treated the little creature like a real baby, cooing and rocking it.

On the red carpet, during an interview with Keke Palmer, Frank said, “He’s starstruck, I’m starstruck.”

When can fans expect to see Frank Ocean next?

Frank is known for his reclusive nature and it’s not clear when fans can expect to see the singer in public again.

His performance at the Met Gala came as a surprise – and it’s likely his next outing in the public eye will be unannounced as well.

Frank’s debut album, Channel Orange, was immediately hailed as a classic and cemented Frank as a rising star.

But after the album’s success, Frank became quiet, isolated and withdrawn.

However, Frank hit back at the Hermit label, telling Gayletter Magazine: “I think the whole idea of me being a hermit is absurd because I’m on the road all the time.

“I’m outside all the time, I travel the world all the time. It’s weird to me that that’s the perception, but I get what people mean by that in this new paradigm.”
