What happened to baby Zeke in Ozark season 4 part 1?

Poor baby Zeke. The kid had pretty tough things throughout Ozark, roaming the houses before officially becoming part of the Snell family. As a fan of Netflix Original Will remember, Zeke is the son of Pastor Mason Young (Michael Mosley) and his wife Grace (Bethany Anne Lind), but after their unlucky fate, he is cared for by the Byrdes before Wendy ( Laura Linney) agrees to hand him over to Darlene (Lisa Emery).

Via Ozark In season 3, Darlene is a devoted mother to Zeke, although her impulsive behavior and poor anger management are certainly a threat to the child. In the same season, Darlene begins a romance with Wyatt Langmore (Charlie Tahan), who helps take care of Zeke. Although they were an unusual family, they were able to keep the baby safe.

Spoilers ahead for Ozark season 4 part 1.

Now then Ozark season 4 part 1 has officially debuted on Netflix, however, fans may be wondering what will happen to baby Zeke. Will he stay to take care of Darlene? And more importantly, is he safe at the end of the installment? Well, the good news is that Zeke is healthy in the season 1 finale, although we’re not sure who’s going to take care of him next.

Ozark season 4 season 1 ends explained: What happened to Zeke?

As I mentioned, Darlene is not good at making decisions and often gets herself into trouble. Honestly, she’s not feeling well, and even though she’s devoted to Zeke, in the end she just can’t be the best mother. She doesn’t put him first, and instead continues to grow drugs on her farm despite threats from the Byrdes and Navarro Cartel.

This causes Darlene to be killed in the end, and unfortunately, Wyatt is also killed. Unfortunately, because the couple had just gotten married, social services wouldn’t keep Zeke away from them after Wendy phoned for the tip. At the end of the season 4 season 1 finale, Omar Navarro’s (Felix Solis) impulsive grandson Javi Elizonndro (Alfonso Herrera) shows up at Darlene after Omar’s arrest, and he wastes no time shooting both Darlene and Wyatt .

However, the good news is that Javi didn’t kill Zeke. When Ruth Langmore (Julia Garner) goes to see Darlene, she hears Zeke crying loudly. Of course, when she goes inside, she finds Darlene and Wyatt dead, even though this happens off-screen. The next time we see Ruth, she drives wildly and after a call with Frank Cosgrove Jr. (Joseph Sikora), she ends up in Byrdes.

Ruth demands to know who killed Darlene and Wyatt, and Charlotte (Sofia Hublitz) runs to the car to comfort the crying Zeke. Ruth ended up driving to find Javi with Zeke still in the front seat, putting him in a very dangerous situation.

This is the way Ozark season 4 season 1 is over and so we can only hypothesize what will happen next at this point. I really hope nothing happens to Zeke, and I really hope Ruth doesn’t get killed. Going into part 2, I’m orienting Ruth and Zeke. Maybe, just maybe, they will come out of the Ozarks and start a new life. That’s what they deserve.
