The fire was also reported to have activated the sprinkler system, but firefighters were called to “completely extinguish the fire”.

What are the officials saying about the fire?

Limited information has been released at this time, with a press conference scheduled at 3pm local time.

At 1:37 p.m., the Denver Fire Department responded Twitter to update the community.

“#DenverFireDepartment crews extinguish a fire at Mile High Stadium, 1701 Bryant. Cause unknown at this time, but the fire has affected the third level suite and seating area.

“The Mile High Stadium fire is now under control. Sprinklers attempted to stop the fire, but firefighters were needed to complete extinguishing. Heavy fire and smoke was noted at our media briefing upon our arrival, which was scheduled to take place at 3pm on the east side of the stadium. @DenSafetyDept@CityofDenver”

At 1:52 p.m. they added that the meeting location had been changed.

“The media briefing has been rescheduled, still at 3pm but on the south side of the stadium. Just west of the north tunnel. #Denverfiredepartment”

Were there any injuries from the fire?

Greg Pixley of the Denver Fire Department reported that there were no injuries.

The stadium was empty except for an event on the second level that had about 100 people.

Pixley reported that these individuals were all able to exit the area safely.

According to the local news agency, about 75 firefighters were on site.

A Twitter user responded with gratitude to the fire department’s alarm.
