What did Jeremy Clarkson say about Meghan Markle?

Jeremy Clarkson recently took to social media to once again apologize to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry for the comments he made in December, but what did he say?

Markle and Prince Harry have dismissed his apology and released a statement of their own. The second apology comes a few weeks after Clarkson released his first statement.

The original article was published in The Sun and the outlet also apologized to the couple.

What did Jeremy Clarkson say about Meghan Markle?

Jeremy had posted an op-ed in The Sun saying he hates Markle “on a cellular level,” National World reported.

At the same time, he explained that he wanted people to “throw clumps of feces at them.”

In the column, he wrote: “I hate her. Not that I hate Nicola Sturgeon or Rose West. I hate them on a cellular level. I can’t sleep at night as I lie there grinding my teeth and dreaming of the day when she will be forced to parade naked through the streets of every city in Britain while the crowd chants ‘Shame!’ and throw clods of feces at them.”

Clarkson also claimed that everyone his age thought the same thing.

The author issues another apology

Clarkson apologized as soon as the article was online. Now, on January 16, he got in touch with another.

In it he tried to explain what he wanted to write. He said: “I knew immediately what had happened. I was thinking of a scene in Games of Thrones but forgot to mention it. So it looked like I was actually calling for heinous violence to be rained down on Meghan’s head. I was very angry with myself because in all the controversial days at Top Gear, when I was accused of all sorts of things, it was very rarely sexism.”

He continued: “I’m really sorry. All the way from the balls of my feet to the follicles on my head. This is me, I raise my hands. It’s a mea culpa with bells.”

“In the last 30 years I’ve written almost 5,000 newspaper and magazine columns, so it was inevitable that one day I would do a Harry Kane and Skype one of those damn things. That’s exactly what happened with the piece about Meghan.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reject the apology

A representative for Markle and Prince Harry dismissed Clarkson’s apology, reports Sky News.

The statement read: “On 25 December 2022, Mr Clarkson wrote exclusively to Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex. The content of his correspondence has been marked as private and confidential.”

“While Mr. Clarkson issued a new public apology today, his long-standing pattern of writing articles promoting hate rhetoric, dangerous conspiracy theories and misogyny remains to be addressed.”

“Unless all of his other pieces were also written ‘in a hurry,’ as he says, it is clear that this is not an isolated incident to be shared in a hurry, but rather a series of articles to be shared in hate.”
