DR. ANTHONY Fauci tested positive for Covid-19 on June 15, 2022 and is isolating a home.
Fauci has been the lead advisor since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, advising both former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden.
When was Dr. Anthony Fauci tested positive for Covid-19?
The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases confirmed that Dr. Anthony Fauci, 81, tested positive for Covid-19 on June 15, 2022.
He has received the Covid-19 vaccine and has been boosted twice and is reportedly having minor symptoms and is isolating at his home.
Fauci tested positive following a rapid antigen test and will continue to work from home until he tests negative.
The institute said Fauci had no contact with other White House officials before testing positive.
Fauci has urged the nation to exercise caution during the pandemic and has personally abstained from attending events for his own safety.
In April 2022, Fauci decided not to attend the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner after considering the risk the event could pose for him.
“Each of us has to assess in our own personal way what risk we are willing to be infected with,” he told CNN at the time.
“In general, the risk is low, but I made a personal assessment. I’m 81 years old and if I get infected I’m at a much higher risk.”
what did dr Anthony Fauci said about Covid-19?
When the virus was found in the US, little information was available about its nature, and in May 2020 Fauci said there was “no scientific evidence” that Covid-19 was created in a laboratory.
“If you look at the evolution of the virus in bats and what’s out there now, [the scientific evidence] very, very prone, cannot have been manipulated artificially or intentionally,” he told National Geographic.
“Everything about the incremental development over time strongly suggests that [this virus] evolved in nature and then jumped across species.”
Fauci added he doesn’t believe Covid-19 was found “in the wild,” taken to a lab, and then artificially manipulated, and said he was “not convinced” that Covid-19 was a naturally occurring virus.
A year into the pandemic, Fauci attended United Facts of America: A Festival of Fact-Checking, where he was asked if he believed the coronavirus evolved naturally.
“Actually no. I’m not convinced of that. I think we should keep investigating what was going on in China until we figure out what happened to the best of our ability,” he said.
“Certainly the people who studied it say it was probably emerging from an animal reservoir that then infected people, but it could have been something else and we need to figure that out.”
“So, you know, that’s why I said I’m absolutely pro-any investigation into the origin of the virus.”
What do we know so far about the origins of Covid-19?
The World Health Organization (WHO) says the theory that the coronavirus escaped from a lab “needs further investigation,” the Washington Post reported.
A report by the Scientific Advisory Group for the Origins of Novel Pathogens (SAGO) proposes an alternative theory that the virus is zoonotic in origin, meaning it was transmitted from animals to humans.
“At this point, there is still the strongest evidence for zoonotic transmission,” Marietjie Venter, WHO team chair and virologist at the University of Pretoria in South Africa, told the outlet before the report was published.
“However, the progenitor viruses identified in bats are definitely not close enough to be the virus that jumped to humans.”
The WHO hopes to learn how to avoid similar outbreaks in the future by uncovering how the Covid-19 pandemic began.
Chinese officials have firmly denied claims that the virus leaked at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, or any other research institute studying coronaviruses at the time.
