What are the rules of the Hells Angels?

Although the notorious biker club has a history of violence and crime, they still have to abide by rules.

The organization has a strong military base, which means Hells Angels live by a code.

They try to exist with as few rules as possible, but the rules they have are vital to the club’s survival.

Here are some of them:

  • Members must be elected – The club decides if someone has the loyalty and character to join, with the full chapter meeting voting on this.
  • Patches and vests – These are part of a strict dress code to show commitment to the gang. They carry the insignia almost everywhere they go.
  • brothers in arms – The Hells Angels know that no matter how dangerous, other members are always there for them when they get into trouble.
  • code of silence – Illegal activities are not discussed at club meetings, although the Hells Angels recognize that some members may be involved in activities that are outside the law.
  • riding in formation – The Hells Angels spend a lot of time on their bikes and often travel as a group. The established hierarchy is always respected, with the Chapter President riding in front and the rest riding in formation behind.

When were Hells Angels founded?

Sonny Barger, founding member of the worldwide Outlaw motorcycle club, has died recently at the age of 83.

The first Hells Angels biker movement was founded in 1948 in San Bernardino, California.

Barger then founded the Oakland movement in 1957.

Charters sprang up throughout the Golden State in the 1950s and 1960s before being fused with variations on the iconic skull and crossbones insignia.

They standardized under the patch, nicknamed the Barger Larger.
