First, James Gunn faithfully adapted the classic Vigilante outfit into a live one, keeping the white and blue stripes that adorn Adrian Chase’s suit – along with the scarlet visor on his balaclava that. It’s a tactical suit equipped with armored plates that can be quite useful as he clears the streets and fights off the bad guys. He also has the same violent personality as Vigilante in the comics, as the Butterfly Project team indicated that he wanted to be involved in some murder. So it’s no surprise that he’s a close friend of Christopher Smith.
But what about Chase himself? Well, in the 1980s “Vigilante” comic, Chase is depicted with blonde hair and blue eyes (via Fandom) is a bit different from Freddie Stroma’s brown locks and green eyes on the show (interestingly, though, the actor has a natural blonde look). The comic book version of Chase doesn’t wear glasses either, but Stroma’s hero role wears a pair of big specs in “Peacemaker” Episode 1, titled “A Whole New Spin.” Chase also means 6′ 2″ – just slightly taller than Stroma, who stands at 5′ 11″ (across IMDb).
But really, the specifics aren’t so important when Freddie Stroma brings such charismatic energy to the screen. “Peacemaker” currently has 94% critical ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, so small differences shouldn’t be a big deal.
