Westminster alarm: Man arrested with knife next to Houses of Parliament because police officers suspect tasers

ARMED police officers pounced on a knifeman near Parliament building today.

Emergency crews were rushed to Millbank in Westminster around 11.50am after the man acted “irregularly”.

Armed police officers then tasered the suspect in front of stunned bystanders.

Dramatic footage showed officers taking the man to the ground on the busy main street.

He was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed object and remains in custody.

The Met confirmed there were no reports of injuries.

A statement said: “Around 11:50am on Friday 21 October a man was seen acting erratically in area SW1.

“He was stopped at Millbank by armed officers.

“The police taser was discharged and the man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed object. He was taken into custody.”
