“Westbrook grew up a Laker fan, but he’s not a Laker”

Leading the league Phoenix Suns just beat thoroughly for Russell Westbrook, LeBron James and the voiceless LA Lakers. The Lakers had their third loss in a row and dropped to 16-16 of the season. There was no feeling of slack at the start of the first quarter, when LA got off to a hot start.

First Host and sports analyst Skip Bayless pointed to Russell Westbrook’s antics after the LA Lakers appeared glowing out of the gate. Westbrook put on his signature “Rock-the-Baby” celebration to surmount an 11-2 win over Purple and Gold.

Here’s how the ESPN analyst detailed his baffling remarks:

“Remember when Westbrook ‘rocked the baby’ on Bridges? Only 5 minutes left, the Lakers have all 80 points and 20 points behind. Just a shame for the Laker Nation. Westbrook grew up a Laker fan. But he’s not a Laker.”

Remember when Westbrook “shaken the baby” on Bridges? Only 5 minutes left, the Lakers have all 80 points and 20 points behind. Just a shame for the Laker Nation. Westbrook grew up a Laker fan. But he’s not a Laker.

The play Skip Bayless was referring to played out with about 5:52 seconds remaining in the opening round. Russell Westbrook drops low in the left area, with a defensive ace Mikal . Bridge covered him all over. The LA Lakers superstar faked a move into the middle before turning for a penalty shootout very far away.

Russell Westbrook’s shot out of the glass gave the LA Lakers a 16-6 lead. The triple king ran back to play defensively, “swinging” all the way. That proved to be a celebration too soon for Westbrook and the Lakers.

Sure, the LA Lakers were underwhelmed, but they were also responsible for the big loss. It was Russell Westbrook who played a big part in the relentless beating of the Phoenix Suns.

The LA Lakers’ starting point guard finished with 22 points on 20 shots. He also scored 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals. The numbers seem solid, but fans watching the game can confirm that he played out of control at times. His 7 turns really hurt the team in this game. The Lakers lost 18 points and let the Suns score 22 of them.

Russell Westbrook: 22 points (10-20 shots, 0-2 from 3 & 2-4 from the FT line), 10 rebounds, 5 assists, 7 passes & a technical foul in 37 minutes https://t.co/FHB7b5sNzT

In many cases, Russell Westbrook was just hanging around the perimeter waiting for LeBron James to do his thing. Whether it’s the coach’s decision or Westbrook simply not developing as a player is anyone’s guess. The LA Lakers shouldn’t be paying him $44 million a season to be a bystander most of the time when it comes to crime.

Russell Westbrook attempted to bully Mikal Bridges in the third half only to see the Phoenix Suns’ best defensive player parry his shot. At that point, the celebratory mood previously in the match turned to disappointment and resignation as inevitable.
