Boss David Moyes thought a raid on his former club would be the answer.

But the Toffees hierarchy turned down the offer because of Ben Godfrey and Yerry Mina’s injuries.

Defender Godfrey is expected to be sidelined for around three months after undergoing surgery on his right leg in last Saturday’s 1-0 defeat by Chelsea.

Godfrey suffered the injury while making a last-ditch save against Kai Havertz at Goodison Park.

Defender Mina suffered a sprained ankle ligament in the second half of the game against the Blues and will see a specialist this week to determine the full extent of the problem.

It’s the second approach Everton have turned down for Keane in this window.

Newly promoted Fulham have expressed interest in the 12-cap England international.

It follows the Toffees’ win over West Ham to the £33.5million signing of Lille midfielder Amadou Onana.

The Belgium star, 20, has signed a five-year deal at Goodison Park.

Onana even gets to wear his favorite color and number under Frank Lampard this season.

He said, “Blue is my favorite color! I chose the number eight shirt because I’m a huge Kobe Bryant fan.”

The Hammers are likely to catch up with Stuttgart’s Croatian left-back Borna Sosa.
